Abstract

800,272. Load-handling machines; jacks. PORTASILO, Ltd. Aug. 15, 1955 [Aug. 13, 1954], No. 23633/54. Class 78 (3). A load-handling device comprises a #-shaped base frame 2, 3 supporting a pair of arms 1 which are luffed by jacks 15, the whole apparatus being readily dismantled, as shown. The arms are provided with lugs 27 which are adapted to engage the trunnions on a silo such as is described in Specification 748,179, [Group X]. The arms are each under the control of a separately-controlled hydraulic jack. In various modifications (not shown) (a) the arms support a load-handling platform provided with parallel guide links; (b) means are provided to adjust the angle of the load or platform, (c) the arms are extensible, (d) the base members 2 are provided with a series of apertured lugs to enable the position of the jacks to be adjusted, and (e) the arms are luffed by screw jacks under separate or common control means.
