Abstract

710,309. Fork-lift trucks. KUSTNER, G. M. A. April 15, 1952 [April 20, 1951], No. 9431/52. Class 78 (3) In a fork lift truck 1 or other stacking and/or transporting device for logs &c. a pair of beams 5 are positioned over projecting load supporting or lifting forks 6 and upright retaining bars 11 are attached to said beams so that they may be raised and lowered independently of the forks. The forks 6, secured to the carriage 2 of a fork lift truck 1, are movable in a vertical direction. The beams 5 are provided with slides 7 movable vertically on guides 8, relatively to the forks, by means of hydraulic cylinders 9. Depending from the outer projecting ends of the beams 5 and fixed or hinged thereto are retaining bars 11 the lower ends 12 of which are accommodated in slots fitted with rollers near the ends of the forks 6. In a modification, the beams 5 are integral with the forks 6 and retaining bars 11 fit through slots containing rollers which are provided in both the beams and the forks and means are provided for the withdrawal of.the retaining bars 11.
