Abstract

798,131. Stringed musical instruments. MICHEL, J. Jan. 21, 1957 [Jan. 21, 1956], No. 2085/56. Class 88 (2). A shoulder-pad comprises a layer 21 of rubber or the like secured to a curved plate 20 which carries near one end a pin 18, fitting into a socket 17 in a mounting member 16, and near the other end a strut 26 adjustable in height which rests against the back of the instrument or is clipped over the rim 35. A screw-threaded rod 30 is hinged to the strut 26 and engages the bifurcated end of the mounting member 16, being locked in position by a nut. The mounting member 16 is secured to a plate 13 which is clamped to the instrument together with a chinrest 12 by means of turnbuckles 14.
