Abstract

797,738. Endless-belt conveyers. POSTMASTER - GENERAL. Jan. 3, 1957 [Jan. 6, 1956], No. 596/56. Class 78 (1). An endless belt conveyer 4 for transporting articles horizontally and vertically has a series of flaps 12 of flexible material secured thereto at one end by rods 13. The ends of each rod project from the side of the belt, Fig. 2, and are pivotally supported by endless chains 9. The other end of each flap is secured to a rod 15, the ends of which are mounted in endless chains 10. The chains 9 extend round sprockets 17, 18 and the chains 10 around sprockets 21, 22. Idler sprockets 23 are provided at each end of the vertical run to cause the flaps to sag slightly, as shown at 4a.
