Abstract
796,793. Fuel pumping systems. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO., Ltd., and BREAR, N. H. Sept. 13, 1956 [Sept. 28, 1955], No. 27622/55. Class 116 A fluid supply apparatus capable of metering the flow of fluid between a reservoir 1 and hoses 14, 14a in each direction of flow, comprises metres 11, 11a for measuring the outflow of fluid, connected through a valve 4, filter 5 and air separator 6 with the delivery side of pump 3: a meter 8 for measuring the return flow of fluid, connected through a valve 7 with the delivery side of the pump 3; and a line 18 connected to the suction side of pump 3 and connectible through self-sealing couplings 15, 15a, 16 with the hoses 14, 14a, said coupling member 16 being disconnectible ,from both the members 15 15a during outflow of liquid so preventing any leakage and re-cycling of fluid from line 18. The apparatus forms part of a tanker vehicle used to fuel and de-fuel aircraft.
