Abstract
796,394. Fibre drums. CONTINENTAL CAN CO., Inc. Jan. 18, 1957 [Feb. 8, 1956], No. 1990/57. Class 66. The lower end portion of a fibre drum wall 5 is curved inwardly to form a breast 6, then downwardly and outwardly to form an internal rib 7, outwardly to form an upper annular wall 8, downwardly and inwardly underneath the wall 8 to form a lower annular wall 10, downwardly again and finally outwardly to form a flange 12 underlying the wall 10 and about half its width. A sheet metal bottom 13 is provided with its peripheral portion folded upon itself at 14 to form a double ply 15 which is received between the upper and lower walls 8 and 10, its remaining portion tightly engaging the drum wall at 11, 12, 8, 10, 9, 7 and 6. The drum wall 5 can include a liner 26 of polyethylene or the like positioned at its lower end between the wall 5 and the bottom 13 ; the bottom 13 can also include a liner, Fig. 3 (not shown), the peripheral portion of which underlies the wall liner 26.
