Abstract

790,846. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. BLACKSTONE & CO., Ltd. April 25, 1955 [April 23, 1954], No. 11858/54. Class 135. In a governor of the flyweight type for controlling internal combustion engines subject to variable load, the engine fuel control or throttle linkage is adjusted by the movement of the flyweights 3 in opposition to the action of the governor loading spring 10, the compression of which is varied by a servomotor operated by oil pressure from the force feed lubrication system of the engine and controlled by a valve 11 connected to one end of a free floating lever 21 which is pivotally connected at its other end to the servomotor piston 9 and-between its-ends to the fuel control or throttle linkage. The governor is driven from the engine through a shaft 5 and the flyweights act through a plunger 2 on a lever 13 keyed to a shaft 14. A lever 15 also keyed to the shaft 14 is connected through a link 16 of adjustable length to a clamp 17 adjustably secured to a lever 18 pivoted at 19. The lever 18 is connected to the fuel control or throttle linkage (not shown) and also through a link 20 to the floating lever 21. The governed speed is set by adjustment of the length of the link 16 and the movement of the valve 11 relative to that of the flyweights is adjusted by means of the clamp 17. The valve 11 which with the servomotor piston 9 is arranged in a casing 8 bolted to the governor casing 4 has a supply port 12 ; a service port 23 and a drain port 24.
