Abstract

681,122. Speed governors. BOSCH GES., R. Oct. 20, 1950 [Oct. 31, 1949], No. 25598/50. Class 57 In speed controlling apparatus, a centrifugal governor comprises weights 15 guided on rods 13 and loaded by springs 14, the movement of the weights being transmitted to the plunger 20 by bell cranks 18 and pins 21. A bush 25 is threaded on the plunger 20 and is locked by a pin 23 and a sleeve 30 is normally centrally located on an enlargement 26 of the bush and retained in position by two compressed springs 35, 37. The sleeve 30 transmits movements of the governor to the control rack 50 of a fuel-injection pump by a lever 40 the fulcrum 44 of which is carried by a manually adjustable lever 45. Idling and maximum fuel stops 51, 52 respectively limit the movement of the rack 50 but if engaged the manual lever 45 can be moved further whereby the sleeve 30 moves relatively to the bush 25 and one of the springs 35, 37 is further compressed with a consequent variation of the engine speed. In an alternative arrangement the sleeve 30 is centred on the bush 25 by a single spring. The fulcrum 44 may be guided in a curved track during manual adjustment and the maximum fuel stop may be spring loaded. Specification 463,325 is referred to.
