780,255. Doffing arrangements for textile spinning &c. machines; twist tubes. MULLENSCHLADER, C. O. April 22,1954, No. 11692/54. Class 120(2) A ring spinning or twisting machine has two spindle rails mounted for transverse movement so that the two rows of spindles may alternately be brought into operative position with regard to a ring rail to permit replacement of full bobbins while spinning and twisting continues. In a spinning machine provided with slubbing bobbins 13, slubbings pass through twist tubes 15 to a ring rail and spindles 20. Twist tubes 15 are driven through a belt 17 from an electric motor 16. The spindles 20 on each spindle rail 19 have a common drive belt that passes round a pulley 21 which can be coupled to the driving pulley of an electric motor 23 by raising the spindle rail or lowering the driving motor. When a bobbin has been filled, the spindle rail 19 is first lowered until the spindle tips are clear of the ring rail 18 and then moved transversely. The second spindle rail 19 is then moved beneath the ring rail 18 and raised until flange rings 32 fixed to the spindles make contact with rotatable inner ball races 28 carried beneath the spinning rings to trap the threads. Rotation of the spindle thereupon severs the threads. Full bobbins may be removed from their spindles by a fork or comb 34. In another embodiment, two spindle rails are connected to form a single frame with one drive belt embracing all spindle whorls. Each thread clamping arrangement of this embodiment has a ring carried by four spring-mounted ball bearings for engagement with a flange fixed to the corresponding spindle.
