777,603. Relief valves. CHAMBERLAIN, E. R., and BLUNDELL & CROMPTON, Ltd. Nov. 1, 1955 [Nov. 5, 1954], No. 32122/54. Class 135. In a combined pressure and vacuum relief valve comprising a pressure-relief valve formed as an annular member 17 urged by a spring 36 against a fixed seat 15 in the valve casing and provided with a seat 25 for a vacuum relief valve 24 urged to the closed position by a spring 36, the annular member 17 is formed with a partition or sleeve 18 slidable in a fixed seal 20 so as to divide the pressure relief outlet line 12 from the vacuum relief inlet 19. The seat 15 surrounds a port 13 leading to a tank or chamber, the pressure in which is to be relieved. The valve 24 has a lower stem 27 guided in a fixed spider 29 and an upper stem 23 guided in a spider 22 which supports the annular member 17 and also forms the lower abutment of springs 35, 36. The spring 35 is adjustable by means of a flanged sleeve 32 co-operating with nuts 30, 33 threaded on the spindle 23. The spring 36 is similarly adjustable by a flanged sleeve 38 screwed into a top-plate 39. The plate 39 forms the top of a cage 41 which is surrounded by a screen 42 and holds the stainless steel sealing ring 20 in place. The top plate 39 supports a weather protection skirt 43 above which is a cap 44 to protect the spring adjusting mechanism. The pressure relief line 12 has two outlets 10.
