800,637. Valves. CROSBY VALVE & GAGE CO., [formerly CROSBY STEAM GAGE & VALVE CO.]. June 5, 1956 [June 6, 1955], No. 17347/56. Class 135. A relief valve comprises a body 6 having an inlet nozzle 8, an outlet 16, a closure disc 14 adapted to seat on the inlet nozzle 8, a valve spindle 26 carrying a loading spring 28, a sealing bellows 38 which, with a protecting sleeve 48, forms a bellows chamber, and a ring 52 carried by the valve disc and arranged to close substantially against the bottom surface of the sleeve 48 when the valve opens, to isolate the bellows chamber from shock due to flow of fluid through the valve. The effective area of the bellows is made equal to the valve seat opening so that the back pressure within the valve body does not affect the opening pressure of the valve.
