Abstract

776,289. Mattresses &c. MOBILESE MARKETING CO., Ltd. Aug. 26, 1955 [Aug. 27, 1954], No. 24937/54. Class 52 (4). A mattress, cushion or the like has a central block or slab of porous, resilient material, e.g. sponge rubber, surrounded by a border frame containing coiled vertical upholstery springs, the central part being softer than the border so that a user will not roll off the mattress. As shown in Fig. 5, a reversible mattress has coiled springs 2 in a lateral channel constituted by top and bottom flanges 1a of a central block or slab 1 of porous rubber, the block being made of two superposed halves. As shown in Fig. 6, a non-reversible mattress has pocketted coil springs 2 coupled together by staples 7 and to top and bottom boundary wires 8, 8a by parts 2a. They are located in lateral channels 3 made of material such as felt and the central porous rubber block or slab 1 may be stuck to the web 3a of the channel. Padding 10, 12 and a cover 5 are provided.
