Abstract

775,043. Linear dimension gauges. SIGMA INSTRUMENT CO., Ltd. Dec. 22,1955 [Jan. 18, 1955], No. 1546/55. Class 106 (2). [Also in Group XXIV] In a comparator gauge the movable measuring anvil is secured to a member 2 which is guided relatively to a member 1 on the body of the comparator by means of spring strips 3, 4, 5 and 10, 11, 12 secured between the two ends of said members. The member 2 is adapted to be urged in one direction relative to member 1 until a stop screw 19 thereon engages an abutment 17 on member 1 when fluid pressure is supplied to a cylinder 21 secured to member 1, the piston 29 of which acts by a rod 30 on an abutment 32 on member 2. The piston allows the pressure fluid such as air to leak past and escape through holes 31 to provide an air lubrication to minimize fractional losses.
