Abstract

772,962. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. ROBBINS, J. F. July 1, 1955 [July 2, 1954], No. 19089/55. Class 118 (2). In order to give early warning to following vehicles of the deceleration and possible stopping of a motor vehicle a normally open switch 3 is provided associated with the accelerator pedal 4 which closes an energizing circuit to stoplights 1 when there is no foot pressure on the pedal. This circuit is from the battery 2 through meter 11 and ignition switch 6 to switch 3 so that the lights 1 are extinguished when the ignition is switched off. A second energization circuit for the stop-lights is led from meter 11 through normally open switch 22. This switch is closed when pressure is applied to the brake pedal 7 and is independent of the ignition switch 6. An indicator light 24 may be arranged in parallel with lights 1.
