Abstract
1,098,817. Road traffic signals on vehicles. PHARMACEUTICAL PLASTICS Ltd. July 16, 1965 [July 18, 1964], No. 29873/64. Heading G4Q. An electric switch is operated when the accelerator is released to illuminate warning signals on the vehicle. The switch may comprise a spring-loaded plunger, Fig. 1 (not shown), carrying a contact element adapted to bridge a pair of fixed contacts when the plunger is moved against the spring. The switch casing may be screw-threaded and arranged so that the switch may replace the usual throttleadjusting screw of a carburettor, Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively the switch may be mounted so as to be operated directly by the accelerator or by part of the accelerator linkage means, Fig. 3 (not shown). Preferably a second similar switch is arranged in series with the first switch, the second switch being normally closed but opened when the clutch pedal is operated, Fig. 5 (not shown); this prevents the warning signals being operated when changing gear. The warning signals may be the usual brake-operated stop lights or may be separate lights of amber colour and triangular shape.
