Abstract

1,162,112. Brake warning device. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 8 Feb., 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 10033/66. Heading F2E. A warning device for use in a road vehicle having two separate braking systems includes a pair of parallel circuits each arranged to be completed when a corresponding one of the systems is effective and operated, a warning lamp 16 being connected so as to be illuminated in the event that only one circuit is completed. The circuits respectively comprise a resistor 13 or 14 and a pressure switch 11 or 12 arranged to be closed when the associated hydraulic brakes are operated. Failure of either brake system results in the corresponding circuit, e.g. 13, 11, being uncompleted when the lamp 16 will light. A switch 17 may be connected across one switch 12 to enable the functioning of the lamp to be checked, alternatively a 3-position switch 18 may be arranged to selectively short either switch 11 or 12.
