Abstract

767,759. Boxes. KIASHEK, G. Aug. 16, 1955 [Aug. 18, 1954], No. 24031/54. Class 18. [Also in Group XXV] A powder compact comprises a casing 2 with a cover 20 hinged at 3 housing a powder container 1 with a hinged lid 5 carrying a catch 7 which co-operates with a sliding plunger 10, the plunger being pushed by the catch against a spring 12 when the lid 5 is closed thereby holding it closed and being pushed by means of a projecting part 16 by the cover 20 when it is moved to an open position thus releasing the catch 7 to permit opening of the lid 5. The plunger 10 is of rectangular section formed from sheet metal and is guided by a wall 1a of the container 1 and an outward flange 4 thereof with depending rim 8. When the lid 5 is closed the catch 7 passes through a slot 6 in the flange 4 and a cam face 7a engages the edge of a slot 15 in the plunger 10 urging it against the action of spring 12 abutting a lug 13 struck out of the top wall 9 of the plunger. When the lid is fully closed the plunger springs back and its part 9a blocks the nose 7b of the catch 7. When the cover 20 is opened its part 18 adjacent the hinge 3 presses the plunger inward until the part 9a unblocks the nose 7b thus permitting the lid to open.
