Abstract
590,234. Hinges for spectacle cases, &c. BROOK, E. J. L., and WOOD, L. March 17, 1945, No. 6749. [Class 18] [Also in Group XXV] The lid 2, Fig. 3, of a spectacle or like case adapted to be held automatically in closed or open position has two hinge pins 12, 13, which are engaged by hooked parts 14a of two plungers 14 movable vertically in recesses 3 in the body 3 under control of a spring 15, Fig. 4, which normally keeps the case closed. The lid hinges about an edge which makes sliding contact with the body. Two springs of hairpin type may be used to keep the case closed. In another form one hinge pin only is used. The case may be of thermo-plastic material, or of pressed metal, cardboard, woodboard &c. lined or covered.
