765,483. Baling-presses. CLAAS, A., and CLAAS, F. June 1, 1954 [June 1, 1953], No. 16150/54. Class 94(1). A baling-press for straw, hay and similar crops has means for forming grooves in the upper and lower surfaces of the bale where tying is to be effected, said means, Fig. 1, comprising projections d on both sides of each needle slot in the upper and lower walls a, b of the press channel, each pair of said projections being interconnected forward of their respective needle slot to form a point g, Fig. 3, in the plane of motion of the associated needle f. The projections d may be formed with teeth. The point g may comprise an insert of conical or wedge-like shape, the height of which exceeds that of said projections.
