Abstract

Compositions for washing clothes contain (1) a salt of a sulphated or sulphonated synthetic organic detergent with a metal of the second or third periodic group, and (2) another salt of the same detergent. One exemplified composition is made by spray-drying an aqueous mixture containing the aluminium and sodium salts of dodecylbenzene sulphonic acid, carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium pyrophosphate and sodium sulphate. Another exemplified composition contains the aluminium and sodium salts of dodecylbenzene sulphonic acid and of sulphated coconut-oil alcohols, together with carboxymethyl cellulose, soda and sodium sulphate. The use of calcium dodecylbenzene sulphonate is also exemplified. Soap, sodium perborate and sodium tripolyphosphate may be included in the compositions.
