1320919 Dishwashing composition ALBRIGHT & WILSON Ltd 4 Nov 1970 [7 Nov 1969] 54753/69 Heading C5D A dishwashing composition comprises an aqueous solution wherein 10-70% by weight of the solids present is polyphosphate of formula M n+2 P n O 3n+1 wherein all M atoms may or may not be the same each being H, ammonium, Na or K and n is 5 or more, up to 40% is alkali metal silicate and 10-90% caustic alkali, but no gluconate is present. The polyphosphate may be sodium hexametaphosphate. The alkali metal silicate may be sodium metasilicate or potassium silicate. The composition may also include sodium hypochlorite, a wetting agent (e.g. an ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butadiene dioxide or glycidol adduct of a fatty alcohol), a hydrotropic salt (e.g. a sodium, potassium or magnesium salt of benzene, toluene, xylene or naphthalene sulphonic acid), nitrilo triacetic acid or a salt thereof or 1- hydroxyethane. 1,1-diphosphonic acid.
