Abstract
764,809. Drafting mechanism. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GES. Feb. 21, 1955 [April 1, 1954], No. 5061/55. Class 120 (2). A drafting mechanism for textile machines embodying a carrier arm accommodating roller holders and extending over at least one pair of top weighted rollers is characterized in that the carrier arm is recessed to form holding elements for drafting mechanism parts such as top roller holders and clearer roller holders which are equipped with corresponding co-operated elements and are movable in relation to the carrier arm. In the arrangement shown a stand 10 supports bearings for the bottom rollers 64, 65 and 66 in the normal manner and carries a bracket 13 which in turn supports a pivoted carrier arm 12 by means of a bolt 14. The carrier 12 is of inverted channel section and is provided with a latch 20 for securing it in the operative position In the side walls 122 of the carrier arm 12 holding elements shown at 31 are formed by slitting and inwardly bending portions of said walls. These elements 31 extend in the direction of the length of the carrier arm 12 to provide guide surfaces 124. Further holding elements 32 consisting of impressions and having guide surfaces 321 are formed in the upper longitudinal edges of the carrier arm 12. Between the guide surfaces 124 and 321 three housings 15 serving as top roller holders are received in such a manner as to be slidable in the direction of the length of the carrier arm 12. Fixing screws 25 are provided to locate the housings 15 in predetermined positions. Clearer rollers 29 are supported by their harbours 69 in clearer roller holders 26 which embrace the carrier arm 12. Shoulders 263 in the sides of the holder 26 embrace the indented side surfaces of the carrier arm formed by the holding elements 31 and screws 77 are provided to locate the clearer rollers of the carrier arm. In other embodiments discontinuous impressions and papillary projections are used as holding and guiding elements.
