Abstract

763,135. Time switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Nov. 8, 1954 [Nov. 23, 1953], No. 32280/54. Class 38(5) [Also in Group XVIII] A timing mechanism for controlling an alarm or switch device comprises two cooperating co-axial cam members one of which is subject to the action of a biasing member which also releases or acutates the controlled device and is characterized by means for stopping or preventing such release or actuation of the controlled device said means when actuated also removing the bias from said cam member. As applied to an alarm clock, Fig. 3, a resilient vibratory arm 10 which causes the audible sound also acts on a pivoted intermediate member 13 to bias the time driven cam member 3 for axial movement when a slot therein coincides with a cam 2 on the manually settable cam member 1. Unon inward movement of a lever 11 a projection 12 thereon raises the arm 10 from the intermediate member 13 to remove the bias from the cam member 3. The cam 3 may, as shown, be connected to a disc 21 which co-operates with two rings 22 on a spindle 23 so that upon axial movement of the cam member 3 the spindle 23 is moved to close two contacts of a switch device 20. The lever 11 carries two pins 26, 27 which co-operate with an arm 24 which controls other two contacts of the switch device 20 in series with the contacts controlled by the spindle 23.
