Abstract

763,126. Copying-lathes. BATIGNOLLES CHATILLON SOC. ANON. Aug. 30, 1954 [Sept. 11, 1953], No. 25115/54. Class 83 (3). A copying device for lathes &c. is mounted on the crossslide and a template is secured to a support pivotable about an axis parallel to the machinespindle and situated at the lower part of the machine, a bar adapted to engage a slot in the cross-slide being arranged at the upper end of the support parallel to the pivotal axis. The template 7 is carried between centres 5, 6, Fig. 9, by a frame 1 which is pivoted to the base of the lathe in bearings 2, 3. The template is constrained to move transversely with the cross-slide 11, Fig. 1, by a rod 10 which is secured to the frame 1 and engages a slot 13 in a lug depending from the cross-slide. A known copying-device 14 is carried by the cross-slide with a feeler 15 and a tool 17. The rod-and-slot connection allows longitudinal movement of the saddle and cross-slide. To overcome the slight inaccuracy of follow-up movement between the cross-slide and template with a vertical slot as shown in Fig. 1, an inclined slot arrangement is described, and also a modified template support in which the top portion carrying the template pivots about the upper part of the frame 1. In this modification rollers are used on the cross-slide to engage the rod 10 in place of the slot connection.
