Abstract
762,667. Wedges; cotters. VANWERSCH, A. Aug. 13,1953 [Aug. 13, 1953], No. 22370/53. Class 89 (2). [Also in Group X] A wedge or cotter 1, Fig. 6, for securing girders together, is held in position by an enlargement 13 on a coiled spring 12 secured to the wedge by engaging a hole 15 therein. The spring must be removed to allow the cotter to be withdrawn. In a modification the cotter 1, Figs. 1 and 2, is held by a sleeve 2 locked to it by a wedge 3, and in a further form a pad is secured to the cotter by a bolt and nut. In other forms, a split clip, held by a bolt and nut, engages slots in the sides of the cotter, or a split spring-ring is passed through a hole in the end of the cotter.
