Abstract
761,571. Respirators. DRAGER, O. H. Dec. 15, 1953 [Dec. 15, 1952; Feb. 6, 1953], No. 34907/53. Class 81(2) In a respirator fresh air is continuously supplied to a preliminary chamber which opens into a mask and is provided with means adapted to permit any excess fresh air supplied thereto to escape to the atmosphere. As shown in Fig. 5 a mask body 1 of sheet aluminium has a preliminary chamber 3 formed by a sheet metal partition 2 in which is an aperture 7 through which air from a hose 6 is supplied through valve 27 to the wearer. The chamber 3 has an outlet 8 controlled by a valve 26 and the main body of the mask has an outlet controlled by a valve 9. In a modification the valves 26 and 27 are omitted. In a further modification the preliminary chamber consists of a short length of hose 57, Fig. 8, attached to a T-piece 55 which communicates with the mask 56 and to which is also attached the air-supply hose 54.
