Abstract

759,668. Valves. HEATH, Ltd., W. H. May 25, 1955 [Dec. 1, 1954], No. 34782/54. Class 135. [Also in Group XVII] A valve has a cylindrical valve chamber B in which fits a cylindrical valve body C having a valve member formed by a ring, D of rubber disposed in a recess E between the end of the valve-body C and a flange F on a piston rod. 6 movable in the valve body, the valve member being movable into closed position by movement of the rod G and squeezed to form a partly spherical body to fit the valve chamber B tightly. The valve body C is movable vertically through a gland H by means of a handle K pivoted to the piston rod G and having a cam surface L adapted to co-operate with the outer surface of the body so that on turning the handle to a substantially horizontal position the rod is drawn upwardly relatively to the body C causing the rubber ring D to bulge outwardly into tight contact with the upper or lower part of the chamber B as the tap is open or closed.
