Abstract
624,719. Valve closure members. JENKS, Ltd., E. P., and JENKS, E. P. Oct. 30, 1946, No. 32158. [Class 135] In a valve of the type in which an axially movable obturating member 6 moves into the outlet conduit 2 to shut-off the flow, the member 6 is so mounted on its actuating rod 5 that it tilts at the commencement of the opening movement to break the seal between the inlet and outlet, but it is moved into the closed position by a centrally applied pressure. The connection between the disc 6 and the rod 5 comprises ears 7 upstanding from the disc and carrying a cross-pin 10 which engages in a slot in the rod. During the closing movement, the flat end of rod 5 presses on the disc and rectifies the tilt. The disc carries a D-section rubber sealing ring 12 and it seals inside a restricted . portion 11 of the outlet conduit.
