In a garage lift the vehicle is supported on crutches n each mounted on pairs of arms h, g which are pivoted together at k, and are pivoted at f to a disc a rotatably mounted at the top of a hydraulic lifting ram: the arrangement being such that the crutches can be swung in a horizontal plane from stowed positions within the periphery of the disc to operative positions beneath suitable lifting points on the vehicle. Each crutch is vertically adjustable by a screw mechanism (not shown).
