Abstract
744,736. Crimping yarns. HEBERLEIN & CO., AKT.-GES. March 19, 1954 [March 25, 1953; April 13, 1953], No. 8083/54. Class 120(3). A smooth yarn or yarns consisting of synthetic organic, e.g. polyamide, polyvinyl or polyester, fibres having a normal or zero twist is or are subjected to the successive processes of temporarily high twisting, i.e. to 1000-5000 turns per metre, by means of a false-twisting device, treating with saturated steam at an absolute pressure of at least two atmospheres for a period of from 0.1 to 20 seconds, and passing through a cooling zone. The high twist may be opposite to any initial twist and two yarns having a temporary high twist in opposite directions may be doubled to form a composite yarn of normal twist.
