Abstract
588,107. Crimped yarns. HEBERLEIN & CO., AKT.-GES. Oct. 17, 1944, No. 20056. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1943. [Class 120 (iii)] Crimped effects are produced in a continuous operation, by imparting a temporary high twist to a travelling yarn, in the opposite direction to its original twist and beyond the zero point, by means of a false twist device. The twist may be up to four times the normal amount. As starting materials, pre-twisted cellulose-bearing artificial silk filaments may be used, alone or in combination with staple-fibre yarns such as cellulose artificial silk; cotton or linen, staple yarns or twisted filaments of casein, polyamides, polyurethanes or polyvinyl chloride or natural silk being also suitable. Staple yarns alone may be used, provided that at least two such yarns are used together, or that a runner such as an endless artificial silk yarn or a metal wire is twisted jointly with the starting material, to avoid loosening of the staple fibres when passing through the zero point. The material may be treated with steam while in the highly-twisted condition. Specifications 424,880, 442,073, 464,981,. and French Specification 884,965 are referred to.
