Abstract

544,812. Threads and fabrics. HEBERLEIN & CO. AKT.-GES. Sept. 4, 1940, No. 13867. Convention date, Aug. 4, 1939. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iv)] The maximum mercerising lustre is obtained on cotton threads and fabrics by twisting the individual yarns together in a direction opposite to that in which they are individually twisted, the twist constant of the thread being equal to that of the individual yarns and the thread being mercerised under tension. Both the warp and weft of a fabric may be formed of the threads and when one set only, are of the threads, the threads of the other set are spaced as much as is possible without affecting the character of the fabric.
