Abstract
741,195. Ammunition projectiles. DONNE R, H. O. Aug. 11, 1953 [April 17, 1953], No. 22159/53. Class 9(1) A mortar projectile has a body 1 to which is attached a nose fuze 3 continuing the line of the body and converging to an angle between 4 degrees and 20 degrees, the body being of heavy material so that the centre of gravity of the projectile is situated near the forward end. The weight of the projectile is 0.5-1.8 kg. per square cm. of the greatest cross-section of the body. A bore 2, which may house a striker, communicates between the fuze 3 and the explosive charge 6 housed in a casing 5 which tapers towards the tail tube 7. The tube 7 has radial bores and carries stabilizing fins 8. A time or percussion fuze 9 may be provided at the base of the explosive.
