739,094. Protective footwear. KAY, J. L., and NORTH BRITISH RUBBER CO., Ltd. March 3, 1954 [March 6, 1953], No. 6310/53. Class 17 (2). A miner's or similar protective boot having a rubber sole a and fabric reinforced upper c is provided with a hard rubber or similar plastic insole d having a thickened extension to form the toe-cap to reinforce it. The toe-cap portion is provided with fabric or fibre strengthening laminations f, while the insole is covered with a fibre layer g, and the whole has a fabric lining h. The various parts are vulcanized together in the case of a rubber boot, but the invention is also applicable to leather or other boots.
