Abstract
737,389. Clamps. KING, D. M. Oct. 23, 1952 [July 1, 1952], No. 16579/52. Divided out of 737,377, [Group XXX]. Class 44. A clip for attachment to flanged joists &c. to depend therefrom consists of two similar hookshaped parts 71, 72 adapted to be adjustably interconnected as by bolts 78 to form a variable-sized C-shaped clip engageable over the flanges of the joist 70, the parts bearing against the upper faces of the flanges each consisting of two portions 75 splayed outwardly relative to each other, e.g. at an angle of 70 degrees, to stabilize the clip. As shown, the two portions 75 are the end portions of a pair of plates 73, originally formed of L-shape, which are placed face to face and then cut away on the shorter limb of the L to accommodate one of the lower flanges of the joist 70. The cut away parts 74 are bent outwardly to form flanges, apertured for the reception of set screws 76 which are screwed through threaded holes in loose plates 79 so as to bite into the lower faces of the joist flanges to lock the clip in place. A bracket 80 from which a conveyer may be suspended is attached to the clip by the bolts 78.
