In a tanker having longitudinal bulkheads 2, 3 which divide the cargo space into a mid section 8 with centre tanks and side sections 9 with wing tanks, and a trunk deck 1, main decks 4, 5 are arranged outside the longitudinal bulkheads at a distance under the trunk deck over which main decks water ballast tanks are fitted.
