Abstract

734,278. Bags. MIDLAND GEAR CASE CO., Ltd. Sept. 1, 1953 [June 3, 1952], No. 13884/52. Class 133. A pannier bag comprises a front 1, a bottom 3, a back, and a closure flap 5, constructed of a single piece of flexible material, gusset sides 4 being sewn at their edges to the edges of the front, back, and bottom. The bags may be secured in closed condition by straps to carriers 8. Each side 4 is provided with draw cords 9 which are threaded through eyeletted holes in strips 11 and through a tab 12 secured to the front 1, where they are tied and covered by a flap 13 depending from the flap 5. The cords 9 can be tensioned to cause the gussets 4 to collapse and maintain the bag in a neat condition when empty. The strap 11 is stitched into the seam 6 which is reinforced by an edging strip.
