Abstract

680,835. Carrier bags. WILLETTS, G. F. July 19, 1951 [April 24, 1950], No. 10018/50. Class 133 A carrier bag having main walls 1, 1a and gussetted side walls 2, 3 has holes 4, 5, in 'the walls, through which is passed a drawstring 11 tied to form an endless loop, and holes 6, 7 in the main walls with slits 8, 8a, extending therefrom the cord loop being passed through the holes 6, 7 when the bag is closed and spread outwardly to enter a slit each side, the main walls 1, 1a being reinforced by cardboard strips 9. In one arrangement, one wall has a strip 9 scored to form a flap 10 with holes 4a, 5a, 6a through which the cord is passed and in a modification, Fig. 4, there is no flap but both walls have reinforcing strips 9, 9a. In another modification, the flap 10 is cut away to pass between the holes 4, 5 to avoid having holes 4a, 5a in the flap through which the cord passes.
