729,920. Knitting-machines. LEBOCEY, R. G., LEBOCEY, B. J. E., COUSTE, J. H. J., and LEBOCEY, A. L. S. Dec. 28, 1951 [Dec. 28, 1950], No. 30297/51. Class 74 (2). A rotary cylinder and dial machine incorporates an improved machine frame, driving means, take-up device and fabric receiving device. The frame consists of three sections 1, 3, 5 having circular flanges 2, 8, 9, 10 respectively which are bolted to plates 11 serving to locate them and to support the working parts. The cylinder 17, dial and fabric receiving device are rotated by gears 28, 27 and 29 respectively on coupled shafts driven by a motor 31. An auxiliary motor 32 may drive the machine at slow speed through a worm-wheel connection 34 with the main motor shaft. The take-up mechanism comprises discs 57, 58 having interengaging castellated rims 71, 72 and carrying carding cloth. As the discs rotate with the work, they are oscillated by a stationary cam 52. Should the fabric be knitted at a slower speed than the take-up, the discs tend to rise against a spring 59 reducing pressure on a clutch 49, 50, 60 and permitting the cam 52 to revolve. The fabric receiving roll is carried on a shaft 61 and has beneath it a receiving tray 62. The tray 62 may either be slid clear of the machine on rails 63 to give access to the roll, or the roll may be released to rest in the tray and is then removed from the open lid of the tray.
