729,722. Vehicle wheels; cooling brake drums. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AKT.-GES. Oct. 29, 1953 [Nov. 20, 1952], No. 29877/53. Classes 103 (1) and 144 (1). A motor cycle wheel hub 5 has a brake drum housing 1 and a brake drum 6 rigidly and independently connected thereto, the brake drum 6 being received within its housing 1 and in turn rigidly connected therewith. As shown, the hub 5 has axially spaced radial flanges 4, 9 to which are bolted and riveted respectively conical and radial web portions of the brake drum housing and the brake drum. The drum and its housing are riveted together at abutting outer radial peripheral portions of their respective webs to provide a triangular-section loadbearing support. The outer periphery of the drum housing 1 has spoke apertures 11 and may be provided with cooling fins 13 as shown or with a central well portion.
