An annular grate has a central slag-outlet duct of which the part immediately adjacent the grate is constituted by a coiled tube d connected in the water circuit of a boiler. The grate comprises three rotatable, eccentric grate rings a, b, c, A tiltable residual-combustion grate f is provided below the tube d and co-operates with a slagbreaking cylinder g. Air for combustion is supplied at h and the coils of the tube d are spaced apart so as to allow air to flow between them to the annular grate.
