Abstract

726,073. Filtering gases. TURNER, J. Jan. 30, 1953, No. 2755/53. Class 8 (2). A flexible fabric opentopped vertical inwardflow gas filter tube 1 is provided with a flexible spiral bar 10 suspended within the tube from a rotatable plate 11. The spiral bar tapers slightly downwardly and after the annular space between the tube 1 and bar 10 has been taken up by a coating of dust the lower edge 20 of the bar scrapes off excess dust which falls into a receptacle 30 closing the lower end of the tube. A baffle 23 in an inlet duct 14 deflects dustladen gas into the tube 1 which is of cotton or woven glass fabric, and the rotatable plate 11 is geared to an electric motor 17, a plurality of such filter tubes may be mounted in parallel in a common casing.
