Abstract
725,595. Gun mountings. VERWALTUNGSGES. DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. April 8, 1953 [April 10, 1952], No. 9582/53. Addition to 684,723. Classes 92(1) and 92(2). The invention of the parent Specification is improved or modified by arranging the training, elevating, and levelling axes to intersect at one point level with the pivotal axis of the gunner's trunk, by arranging the cradle to pivot on the gun base at one front and one rear pivotal point of which at least the front bearing point consists of an arcuate guide and by providing the shoulder rests 12 with extensions 19 carrying hip plates 20. In the construction shown, the mounting 3 for the cradle 5 is pivoted by a pin 7 to a base 2, which can be trained about a fixed baseplate 1, and carries rollers 8 which embrace an arcuate guide on the base. The gun is provided with an aiming arm 10, parallelogram rod assembly 13, sight 11, and elevating gear 14 which can be locked to a segment 15, as in the parent Specification. Spent cartridge cases from the gun pass down shoots 22 and are received by bins 21. In a modification, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), the mounting 3 carries rollers 8 both at its front and rear for engaging front and rear arcuate guides on the base 2, the pivot pin 7 being dispensed with.
