723,943. Vehicle lighting systems. PINK, A. E. Aug. 7, 1953 [Aug. 12, 1952], No. 20245/52. Class 75 (4) A motor vehicle has mounted at the top thereof at least one electric lamp disposed within a translucent globe so arranged that the globe and the vehicle outline are visible when approached both from the front and rear. Beam directing headlamps may be replaced by a tubular lamp extending continuously across the front of the vehicle. Direction indicating'lamps may be provided on opposite sides of the translucent globe and an additional lamp may be provided for lighting the road underneath the vehicle. Two lamps may be mounted centrally at the rear of the vehicle, one above the other, the upper indicating braking of the vehicle and the other indicating that the vehicle is being reversed. A rear lamp may be provided at each rear corner. When the lighting system is applied to a motor cycle, the translucent globe is mounted at a position slightly above and behind the rider, and a tubular lamp may be provided both at the front and at the rear of the cycle.
