Class 75(4) A vehicle direction indicator lamp adapted to be mounted at the side of a vehicle for giving flashing signals in the fore and aft directions according to the impending change in course of the vehicle to the left or right comprises a base c for attachment to the vehicle and carrying a holder d for an electric bulb e and a pair of dished transparent or translucent parts a, b united at their peripheral edges to define a hollow body and each having formed on its inner surface light diverting prisms f which will deflect towards the base c externally incident light emanating from the front or rear of the vehicle as from the headlamps of an approaching car so that the lamp presents a relatively dull appearance to an observer in the approaching car and becomes brightly illuminated only when light is derived from the bulb within. The base c may be opaque as shown or may be made from transparent or translucent material having prisms similar to prisms f.
