Abstract

717,692. Liquid filters. LAPORTE, H. Aug. 20, 1951 [Aug. 21, 1950], No. 19533/51. Class 46 Filtering apparatus articularly for solvents as used in dyeing plants comprises a horizontal drum 1, Fig. 3, having inlets for the liquid to be filtered an outlet 10 for exhausing the impurities and a hollow shaft 11 which communicates with apparatus utilizing the filtrate and which carries hollow disc filter units 20 covering radial passages c, Fig. 5, in the shaft and whose hubs 18, Fig. 5, have radial ports a communicating with the'passages c through a liquid sleeve space b enclosing the shaft 11 throughout the filter assembly. The filter units 20 are spaced apart by rings 21, Fig. 6, the inner diameter of which is larger than that of the filter disc hubs 18 so as to increase the volume of the liquid sleeve: Each disc filter is formed of two separated perforated metal sheets 19, Fig. 6, and is enclosed within a canvas bag 20. The shaft, together with the filter discs thereon may be rotated within the drum as by a hand wheel during which rotation stationary brushes 21, Fig. 3, carried by the drum and fitted between each pair of filter discs 20 clean the deposit from the filter bags.
