Abstract
518,105. Dust extractors. LISTER, R. B., LISTER, W. P., and LISTER, J. P., [trading as LISTER & SONS, J.]. Sept. 17, 1938, No. 27134. [Class 23] Dust extracting and collecting apparatus consists of a vertical cylindrical container a with a conical top a<1> having inside it a cylindrical hood b also with a conical top b<1>, and a dependent cylindrical filter c. The rim of the hood b is flanged so that a coiled spring c<1> in a hem in the filter supports the latter in a detachable manner. The filter is similarly attached by a spring c<2> at its lower end to the flanged rim of a conical ring a<3> secured to the casing. The space below the ring constitutes a dust box a<4>. The inlet pipe b passes through the casing and makes a tangential connection with the interior of the hood b, and carries for instance, dust laden air from a fan associated with a grinding machine. A cyclonic settling and filtering action occurs and the dust drops to the box a<4> while the clean air passes upwards inside the casing to the outlet pipe a<2> in the casing top a<1>. A shallow annular tank d containing liquid, and a cowl d<1> may be provided to serve as a dust trap at the clean gas outlet. Doors a<5>, a6 are provided in the casing and dust box respectively, and the filter c may be provided with a canvas handle whereby it may be shaken.
