Abstract
573,082. Air filters. WORTH, T. C., and BRITISH FILTERS, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1942, No. 14349. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group II] An air cleaner comprises an initial dry stage 42 of the cyclone separator type, a stage 12 in which the air is passed through an oil bath and: a final filter stage 1. The three stages are separable, the stage 42 being secured by a spring rail 33 and the stage 12 being secured to the stage 1 by bayonet slot fastenings. Air enters through tangential louvres 38 and solids thrown out in the vortex chamber 37 pass through tangential openings 40 into a dust box 42. The cleaned air passes upwards through a central tube 20, is deflected into oil by a cup-shaped baffle 32 and is then directed upwards by an annular baffle 24 immersed in the oil. Thence it passes through filtering material 5 to the outlet 4. According to the Provisional Specification, the oil bath and filter stages may be as described in Specification 574,128.
