Class 51 (1) A spreader stoker includes a horizontal or substantially horizontal track 23 onto which fuel is fed, an orifice 30 connected with a supply of elastic fluid under pressure and which projects a jet of fluid along the track, and a deflector 24 at the end of the track having an upwardly-inclined surface from which fuel is discharged at an upward inclination to the horizontal.
