715,270. Tow hooks. FERGUSON BROS. (PORT GLASGOW) Ltd. March 17, 1952 [March 16, 1951; Nov. 12, 1951], Nos. 6343/51 and 26404/51. Class 78 (2) A tow hook for towing a vessel comprises a series of four members, of which the first member 1 and the third member 3 are rigidly connected together by at least one bar 5 passing through a hole in the second member 2, and the second member 2 and the fourth member 4 are rigidly coupled to one another by at least one bar 7 passing through a hole in the third member 3; and a shackle 9 connected to member 1 and a slip hook 10 connected to member 4. Between members 1, 4 may be positioned piston and cylinder 13 to also absorb shocks.
